Frequently asked questions about our production
It is important to us at VON&ZU not to neglect our responsibility towards people and nature when developing our collection. To give you an insight into where our products come from and who makes them, Eva answers the most important questions about them.
How does it all start? Who designs the products?
We start each new collection with the fabric fair and the associated fabric templates. This gives us a first feel for the new trends, colors and qualities. The creative head of each product is Magdalena. After trend research and store checks, mood boards, color worlds and finally the finished garments are created.
Where do the fabrics come from and what is important to you when making your selection?
We source our fabrics from various fabric suppliers in Europe. We have been working with our main suppliers for many years. Nevertheless, it is important for us to get to know new fabric suppliers and to work with their qualities in order to bring variety into the collection. When selecting the fabrics, I also pay attention to the technical conditions in addition to the look, because not every fabric is necessarily suitable. If a blouse quality is not washable, for example, it is difficult to use it.
Where is the collection made?
We produce our collection exclusively at partner companies in Europe. These are located in Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Croatia and Turkey. These are owner-managed family companies with whom we have a long-standing and good business relationship.
Who are your producers and how did you choose them?
Our producers are long-standing partners of our manufactory. They are familiar with our quality standards and know what is important to us. We are in close contact with our producers and visit them regularly on site, because that way you get a much better impression and understanding of working methods, problems and much more.
Our suppliers are mostly selected based on recommendations. It can always happen that the cooperation ends after the end of a production, this gap then has to be filled again. In such cases, I like to ask my contacts in the fashion industry whether they can recommend someone to me. This means I don't buy a pig in a poke, but thanks to someone else's experience I already have a first impression.
